Keeping Party Politics Out of Local Government.
Since 1889, Buckinghamshire has been dominated by one party: the Conservatives. For over a century, they have controlled not only the County Council ,now Buckinghamshire Unitary Council, but also the district councils and, until recently, most local MPs.
Their long-standing grip on power has led to stagnation and poor decision-making that no longer serves the people of Buckinghamshire.
High Wycombe has suffered as a result of lack of investment and support
Many areas of High Wycombe are needing investment including Marsh and Micklefield, Castlefield, Disraeli, and of course the Town Centre
The cracks in this system are clear for everyone to see. Lack of affordable social housing, potholes, reduction in services and general neglect.
We have been blocked from having local democracy and a Town Council by the Conservative run council.
The Council is near bankruptcy. We’re all witnessing relentless cuts to essential services, with more reductions looming. Assets are being sold off one by one just to stay afloat. £28 million sold so far — but what happens when there’s nothing left to sell? Redundancies have gutted council staff, leaving fewer people to handle mounting casework. This makes it increasingly difficult and expensive for residents to access basic services.
Social care is on its knees and access to a Doctor is a battle to just get an appointment
The current council system is designed to say “No.”
Councillors, regardless of their party affiliation, are forced to fight tooth and nail to turn that “No” into a “Yes” for their constituents. Even members of the ruling party face this uphill battle, as real power rests in the hands of one person: the Council leader.
Why Independents Are Different
A growing group of Independent Councillors, some already elected, are pushing back against this broken system. Many more new Independent candidates are standing in this year’s elections, driven by a shared commitment to serve the community rather than toe a party line.
As Independents, we cannot hide behind a political party. We are not whipped or forced to vote for policies that go against the best interests of our constituents. Instead, we vote based on what’s right for the people who elected us.
We are elected for our reputation, integrity, and dedication to local issues — not because we wear a particular party badge. We believe in working collaboratively with Councillors from all backgrounds, focusing on solutions rather than political ideology.
Independents don’t care about left- or right-wing politics. What matters to us is delivering results for our communities.
Time for Real Change
The main established parties in the UK have made catastrophic mistakes that have damaged our economy and left the most vulnerable in our communities struggling. Small businesses, and residents are paying the price for years of poor governance.
We’ve had enough of national party control. It’s time for real change locally.
A Better Future for Buckinghamshire
We believe that local government should be about people, not politics. Independents offer a fresh, community-focused approach. We listen, we act, and we fight for what matters most to you.
By working together, we can fix what’s broken and create a council that truly serves its residents.
It’s time to put Buckinghamshire back in the hands of the people who live here.
Vote Independents who will remove politics from the council and put you first.
